Why you must rest
This last week we were off…literally off the grid. We visited an island that is a must see for everyone if you are searching for solitude, breath taking views, silence and an adventure.
Let’s back track…many people are too tired, stressed, workaholics or feel too financially strapped to take a vacation.
Vacation, down time and rest is a must.
We must decompress, de-device, distress…
We must relax and reconnect.
We took our family to Rice Lake. We stayed at a resort that was less than the pictures and Internet portrayed. However the positive is, the 16 of our family members were the only ones there. We had the shore all to ourselves.
Our family and extended family visited the hidden gem of Rice Lake- Grasshopper Island. We just went for the day. Next year, our plan is to stay there.
www.islandspiritsricelake.ca has created a paradise island complete with hiking trails, free ranging alpaca and sheep, pigs in a pen, baby goats and baby bunnies that all want a cuddle.
The pigs (4 of them) eat all the garbage that campers will allow them to devour. This reduces the waste produced by the island that otherwise would go to land fill by 50%.
Captain TJ who is the owner of the complex has created cabins on the island. These accommodations range from two story, to single bed dwellings, to a teepee. There are boats to use (kayaks and canoes), fishing piers and a swimming barge.
There is even a real life teepee you can rent!! A teepee!!!
She has built amazing outhouses, water producing eco showers, picnic shelters complete with a device charging station. In the center of the island there is a sports field complete with volley ball, badminton, huge human checkers, and a punching bag station.
This has to be one of my favorite family places. Views to die for, nice swimming and great fishing.
Take a breath
Come back feeling refreshed, revived, and rested.
Until we meet again next year.
Keep smiling and take a break
